CIRCUIT MATTERS

Dear Friends,

The churches to which we belong, the Circuit, the District, in fact the whole Methodist Church is facing a challenging and exciting time ahead. New God-given opportunities are there before us as we seek, through the enabling power of the Holy Spirit, to bring others into the family of Christ.

A number of us went to Synod during September and one of the topics discussed was "Fresh Expressions" of being church. In other words a reaching out to the community around us, meeting the people where they are both physically and spiritually and through our serving in the name of Christ bring them into the fellowship of Christ's family and experience the love of God. Some of these opportunities we hope and pray will manifest themselves as members of the CLT visit each church over a period of time and discuss the best way forward to achieve our aims. Those churches who have yet heard nothing need not feel left out - your time will come.

The stationing process is of course ongoing as we seek a replacement minister for Gordon who leaves us in August 2007. When a new minister has been appointed, everyone will be informed.

The situation regarding the LEP (Local Ecumenical Partnership) arrangements between the Marston and Lidlington churches is still being discussed.

May I remind you all of the Advent Service at Ampthill on the 3rd December at 6.00 pm which will be arranged by Network. I hope that many of us are able to join together with the extended family of the Circuit at this time of great joy.

Brenda, our Senior Circuit Steward, can leave the area at any time and I ask that we all bring before God in our prayers this situation. It will leave us with only two Circuit Stewards whereas four is the ideal number for a Circuit of our size.

I conclude by wishing you all a Happy Christmas in Christ and every blessing in the year that lies ahead.

God bless you all,

Brian Cook

(Circuit Steward)
